Mr. Chiedu Ugbo, the Managing Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Limited, has outlined the steps being taken by the company to address the challenges that have hindered the efficient distribution of electricity to consumers in Nigeria,Daily Trust reports.

Speaking to reporters at the State House in Abuja, he shared these measures after leading the company’s management to the inaugural meeting of the NDPHC Governing Board at the Presidential Villa. Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who serves as the Board Chairman, presided over the meeting.

Ugbo emphasized a key issue, explaining that the entire power grid faces difficulties related to the evacuation of power from transmission and its subsequent distribution.

He pointed out that if the distribution networks cannot handle the power generated, it creates a bottleneck that affects transmission as well.

To tackle this problem, Ugbo elaborated on NDPHC’s efforts, stating, “We are diligently working on achieving a seamless process from power generation to the end users. We are currently collaborating with distribution companies and working with transmission companies to address these bottlenecks and ensure that electricity reaches the consumers.”

Regarding the outstanding debt of approximately N180 billion owed to the company by the government, the managing director assured that this systemic issue is also in the process of resolution.
