The Nigerian military has withdrawn troops from its camp in Allawa community, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, following renewed attacks by bandits and terrorists in the area. This withdrawal has forced hundreds of locals, including women, children, and the elderly, to flee their homes and trek over 50 kilometers to seek safety in neighboring areas like Erena, Gwada, Kuta, or Zumba,Daily Trust reports.
The decision to withdraw came after a military vehicle detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Allawa-Pandogari road, resulting in casualties. Residents expressed concern over the vulnerability to attacks without military presence and appealed for government intervention to evacuate them to safer locations.

The Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi Mohammed (RTD), confirmed the troop withdrawal, stating that it was part of the military’s administrative arrangements to strategize better for addressing insecurity in the region.
