Labaran Maku, the Director-General of the Nasarawa State PDP Governorship Campaign Council, and Mike Omeri, the Director of Media and Publicity for the council, have dismissed claims that they celebrated the Court of Appeal’s judgment that overturned the removal of Governor Abdullahi Sule on Thursday,Daily Trust reports.
Contrary to a report by a national daily (excluding DailyTrust), which suggested that the pair joined Governor Sule in visiting the National Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to mark the verdict, Omeri, in a statement, labeled the report as a groundless assertion.
The statement, signed by Omeri, vehemently rejected the misleading media report, clarifying, “Our Director General and the Director of Media and Publicity have not participated in any such event, nor have they engaged in activities that align with the misleading narrative propagated by the report.”
It further emphasized the unwavering commitment of the campaign council to the cause of reinstating the electoral mandate of their Governorship candidate, Dr. David Ombugadu. The PDP State Chairman, Mr. Francis Emokela Orogu, had earlier announced that the party would seek redress against the Court of Appeal’s erroneous judgment at the Supreme Court.
The statement concluded with an appeal for caution and verification of information before dissemination, underscoring the detrimental impact of spreading misinformation on the democratic process and its potential severe consequences for individuals and the political party.
