Calls have been made to President Bola Tinubu to reinstate Dr. Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, amid the ongoing economic challenges faced by Nigerians. Traders in Lagos, along with women, youths, and religious leaders, argue that Edu’s reinstatement would aid in alleviating the suffering of Nigerians, given her youthfulness and passion-driven approach to ministerial duties,leadership reports.

Addressing a diverse audience on the importance of reinstating the suspended Minister, Chief Imam Salaudeen Olore of Agbure Central Mosque in Ojodu Abiodun, Lagos State, emphasized the moral obligation to uphold human dignity and social justice in meeting Nigeria’s social intervention needs. He highlighted the detrimental effects of poverty, hunger, and inadequate access to essential services on individuals and the nation’s social cohesion.

Furthermore, Olore stressed the importance of addressing these pressing needs to prevent further inequality and marginalization, urging President Tinubu to reconsider Edu’s suspension.

Echoing similar sentiments, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nwokolo, a businesswoman and distributor, praised Edu’s humanitarian qualities and called for her reinstatement, emphasizing her ability to connect with market women nationwide.

Similarly, Alhaji Tunji Adunbarin, a pensioner, underscored the significance of social intervention programs in promoting inclusivity and solidarity across societal divides. He urged President Tinubu to recall Edu to facilitate national development and social cohesion.

Traders at the Isheri/Olowora market, represented by Alhaja Modupe Taiwo, unanimously appealed to President Tinubu to reinstate Edu, citing her impactful support for their community and the wider populace.

Alh Olajide Kilajolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emphasized the potential consequences of neglecting Nigeria’s social intervention needs, warning of possible civil unrest and advocating for Edu’s return to foster stability and security.

Overall, these appeals reflect a widespread belief in Edu’s capacity to address Nigeria’s social challenges and contribute to national development, urging swift action from President Tinubu to reinstate her and continue her commendable work.
