The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended Ogeh Bethel Chibuife, an individual posing as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, for unlawfully gaining entry into the Magaji Dan Yumusa Orientation Camp in Keffi, the state capital. The arrest was made following a statement issued by the state police spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, on Thursday.

According to Nansel, the imposter, identified as an extra year student of Public Administration at Ebonyi State University, infiltrated the NYSC camp during the 21-day orientation program designated for the 2024 Batch A, Stream 1 corps members.

Her presence was detected during a routine headcount, prompting an NYSC official to report the incident to the police on Sunday.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect, originally scheduled to graduate in 2022, had encountered academic setbacks, leading to the accumulation of spillover courses. In an attempt to conceal this fact from her parents, she purchased NYSC uniforms and other paraphernalia intended for corps members from the market. Her motive was to take photographs within the camp premises and send them to her parents as a ruse, but her deception was short-lived as law enforcement officers intervened.
