Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, an ancient kingdom in Kaduna State has advised Nigerians, especially northerners to prepare for the possible famine due to the spate of flooding that ravaged some farmlands in the region.

He explained that northerners don’t need to be told that there is a possibility that the flood and security challenges will throw the region into a state of extreme hunger.

Speaking at the third award ceremony organized by the Kaduna State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA), the emir said time has come for Nigeria to diversify its economy and stop depending on the oil sector.

“On the issue of hunger in the coming year, you don’t need anyone to explain to you, but pray to God that this will inspire people to look for other ways to provide food and diversify our economy.

“We should wake up from our sleep, especially in the Northern part of Nigeria and see what we should do because we know that the backbone of the economy in the world is agriculture,” he said.

Bamalli congratulated those who were honoured by KADCCIMA, for contributing to the development of the Nigerian economy in various fields, especially in the northern region.
