In a six-hour rampage targeting three communities on Tuesday night in Dawaki Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, marauding bandits killed at least 17 people and abducted 54 others. Hon. Aminu Khalid, a former Councilor of the Ward, shared this grim information with journalists, identifying the assaulted villages as Ungwan Sako, Kunkurai, and Dokan Kaji,leadership report.

Khalid disclosed that during a gun duel, some locals managed to rescue 20 of the abducted villagers, but at the tragic cost of nine lives among the rescuers. However, 34 individuals remain in the custody of the bandits, and there has been no contact established yet for ransom demands.

The former councilor revealed that the terrorists tactically infiltrated the communities on foot, simultaneously positioning themselves. He emphasized that the bandits typically originate from the Kajuru and Kachia forest areas, specifically mentioning their camp located at Dutsen Magunguna in Kajuru Local Government Area. Khalid stressed that unless the Nigerian military intervenes to raid the terrorist camp in those communities, lasting peace will be elusive.

Despite attempts to obtain further confirmation, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Mansir Hassan could not be reached on his mobile phone at the time of filing this report.
