During the presentation of the Appropriation Bill 2024 to the state House of Assembly, Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed that the budget marks a 48.2 percent increase compared to that of 2023. The governor attributed this rise to the removal of subsidies and the inflationary pressures associated with the weakening state of the local currency.
Governor Bala Mohammed emphasized the inclusive nature of the budget preparation process, highlighting public hearings held in the three senatorial zones. These sessions allowed for the collection of inputs from stakeholders, which were subsequently incorporated into the budget proposal.
Addressing the assembly, Speaker Babayo Muhammad Akuyam assured swift consideration of the budget for passage, underscoring the commitment of the House to expedite the legislative process.
