The Bauchi State government has allocated a total of N300.219 billion for both capital and recurrent expenditures in the 2024 fiscal year. Of this amount, N121.341 billion, accounting for 40.4 percent, is designated for recurrent expenditure, while N178.878 billion, constituting 59.6 percent, is allocated for capital expenditure, leadership reports.

During the presentation of the Appropriation Bill 2024 to the state House of Assembly, Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed that the budget marks a 48.2 percent increase compared to that of 2023. The governor attributed this rise to the removal of subsidies and the inflationary pressures associated with the weakening state of the local currency.

Governor Bala Mohammed emphasized the inclusive nature of the budget preparation process, highlighting public hearings held in the three senatorial zones. These sessions allowed for the collection of inputs from stakeholders, which were subsequently incorporated into the budget proposal.
