The All Progressives Congress (APC) Professionals Council has finalized arrangements to inaugurate a foundation in honor of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, as part of the celebrations for his 70th birthday,leadership report.

The council’s Director General, Hon. Seyi Bamigbade, made the announcement in Lagos, revealing that the foundation aims to champion the principles and values that the former Benue State governor has steadfastly upheld throughout his decades-long career. The official unveiling of the foundation is scheduled for January 1, 2024, in Lagos.

Bamigbade highlighted the foundation’s core objectives, emphasizing its commitment to advancing the philanthropic and humanitarian initiatives that define Sen. Akume. The foundation plans to empower young people through business grants, extend support to widows and the less privileged, provide scholarships, and distribute educational materials to communities in Benue and the broader North Central region.

Prince Ademola Adetokunbo Ade-John has been appointed as the inaugural chairman of the board of trustees for the foundation.

Bamigbade encouraged philanthropic individuals and donor agencies to collaborate with the council, underscoring the foundation’s dedication to enhancing the lives of Nigerians within their communities in alignment with the Renewed Hope agenda of the current administration.
