The Jigawa State government has granted approval for the allocation of N173 million to facilitate the implementation of a solar mini-grid project at Dutse General Hospital in Dutse Local Government Area. The State Executive Council (SEC) sanctioned the funds during its Thursday meeting, according to Sagir Musa, the state commissioner for information,Daily Trust reports.
Musa, addressing journalists, stated, “The SEC has approved the award of a contract for the installation of Solar Mini-Grid at the Dutse General Hospital at the sum of N172,754,158.00 only.” He underscored that the council’s decision aligns with Governor Umar Namadi’s commitment to enhancing the standards of General Hospitals in the state for efficient healthcare delivery.
In addition, the SEC greenlit N324.8 million for the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrade of 33 Small Towns Water Supply Schemes across 14 state constituencies. The council also authorized the contract for establishing a fumigation chamber at Maigatari Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Maigatari Local Government Area.

Musa clarified that the proposed fumigation chamber aims to bolster hibiscus production in the state. This initiative not only seeks to enhance the quality of hibiscus but also ensures compliance with the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) requirements for export purposes.
