President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated an immediate 60% reduction in travel expenses for all government officials, including those in the Presidency. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, during a briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja,Daily Trust report.
The decision is part of the Presidency’s cost-cutting measures. Ngelale revealed that the President has reduced the number of individuals accompanying him on local trips to 25, and for foreign engagements, the entourage has been limited to 20 persons. Furthermore, the accompanying personnel for the Vice President, First Lady, and the Vice President’s wife have also been significantly reduced.
As part of the directive, the number of persons accompanying a minister on a foreign trip is now limited to four, while heads of federal agencies are allowed only two companions. All ministers and heads of federal agencies have been informed of these new guidelines through circulars issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
