Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has mobilized the heads of security agencies in the state to address the security challenges in Yangtu, a troubled community in Ussa Local Government Area. The deployment comes in response to a recent attack by gunmen in the area, resulting in casualties,Daily Trust reports.

In a statement issued by Emmanuel Bello, the Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications to the Governor, it was revealed that Governor Kefas expressed deep shock upon learning of the attack. He promptly instructed the Deputy Governor and key security officials to visit the affected area with the aim of finding lasting solutions. Governor Kefas emphasized his intolerance for threats to lives under his leadership.

The statement highlighted the governor’s proactive measures to end such violence in the state, including engagements with local leaders and stakeholders to address the menace. Governor Kefas underscored his recent visits to security heads at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, focusing on garnering federal support in combating banditry within the state. He acknowledged that security challenges are not confined to Taraba but affect the entire country.

Governor Kefas outlined plans to empower newly elected local government chairmen to safeguard lives and properties in their respective domains. The statement conveyed that security forces are employing modern technologies in the field to counteract these unfortunate incidents.

The governor reiterated his commitment to collaborate with the Security Council of the state, emphasizing the importance of working closely with traditional leaders and youth organizations to protect citizens. He highlighted the prominence of security matters in the recently concluded North East regional Governors Forum, emphasizing a holistic approach to address the issue.

Governor Kefas expressed his dedication to allocate more resources, both in intelligence gathering and funding, to strengthen the efforts of all security outfits in the state and sustain the ongoing initiatives.
