According to information gathered by LEADERSHIP, this resignation is likely tied to a circulating video implicating the retired senior Army officer in activities associated with banditry on the eastern side of the State.

Moyi, who has served as a Commissioner in the State on three different occasions, addressed the press at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Sokoto. He explained that he opted to step down from his role as the Chairman of the Sokoto Community Guards Committee in order to protect his hard-earned reputation.

In his own words, Moyi stated, “Shortly after my appointment, some individuals with ill intentions in the state initiated a smear campaign to tarnish my character. I served the nation honorably until my retirement as a Colonel, after which I ventured into politics and served as the chairman of my local government area. I also held the position of Commissioner for Security on three separate occasions, resigning during the previous administration without any stain on my record.”

“I will never compromise my integrity for any position. No appointment is more valuable to me than my integrity. As a result, I have chosen to relinquish my role as chairman of the Community Guards. I express my gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Aliyu, for considering me worthy of this significant appointment.”

“I assure His Excellency and the people of the State that I remain at their service, committed to contributing to the advancement and prosperity of the State.”
