On the occasion of the funeral service for Chief Akintola Williams, the first indigenous chartered accountant in Nigeria and a respected elder statesman, prominent figures including Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, gathered,Daily Trust report.

The service took place at the Shell Hall of the Muson Centre in Onikan, under the auspices of the Wesley Cathedral Olowogbowo, Lagos. Also in attendance were former Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Zenith Bank founder Mr. Jim Ovia, former Minister of Foreign Affairs General Ike Nwachukwu (rtd), industry leaders, banking executives, religious leaders, family members, friends, and associates of the late Chief Akintola Williams, both from Nigeria and abroad.

Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the late Akintola Williams as an exceptional Nigerian and a prominent figure in Lagos.

Governor Abiodun expressed his belief that Chief Akintola Williams’ legacy will endure for years to come due to the values he embodied throughout his lifetime.

During the sermon, Dr. Sunday Makinde, the Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church Nigeria, encouraged the family, friends, and associates to honor the memory of the deceased by supporting the Akintola Williams Centenary Building Project of the Church.
