The Police Recruitment Board has slated April 16 for the practical tests and medical screenings of specialist applicants as part of the ongoing recruitment of Constables into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF),leadership reports.

These assessments will be conducted concurrently with the medical screenings for both general duty applicants and specialists. Initially scheduled to commence on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the screenings will extend over a two-week period.

According to Ikechukwu Ani, the spokesperson of the Police Service Commission (PSC), candidates will undergo tests in various specialized fields such as band, carpentry, communication, driving, electrical work, information technology, masonry, and marine technology. Additional areas include mechanics, medical assistance, painting, plumbing, tiling, printing, welding, and veterinary assistance.

The practical tests are set to take place at 20 locations nationwide, encompassing the 17 zonal command headquarters, as well as the command headquarters in Kaduna, Yobe, and Zamfara States. Specialist applicants from these states will undertake their practical tests in their respective states of origin.

Dr. Solomon Arase, the chairman of the Police Service Commission, expressed the Commission’s aspiration to restore the Nigeria Police Force to its esteemed past when its specialists were regarded as among the best globally. During that era, the Force managed most of its auxiliary services internally, with seasoned mechanics handling vehicle repairs, masons constructing Police barracks, engineers engaged in road construction, and tailors sewing Police uniforms, among other tasks.

Dr. Arase emphasized that the practical tests for specialist applicants would be meticulously conducted to ensure the selection of the most competent individuals.
