The Nigerian Army (NA) has warned warring communities in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State against a resurgence of hostility,Daily Trust reports.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General A E Abubakar, gave the warning Sunday during a stakeholder’s meeting organised for all community leaders in Bokkos LGA held in Jos.

While noting that the army would not allow conflicts in the local government after recording peace, he said any action by a few criminal elements, crisis merchants and groups to reverse the successes recorded so far would not be tolerated.

The GOC stressed that it was crucial for stakeholders to prevent the resurgence of violence in Bokkos, noting that the triggers of violence in the area had already been identified and efforts were underway to eradicate them permanently.

He urged the community leaders to cooperate fully with security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for instigating crises in the area and warned criminals to change their evil ways for peace.

The community leaders expressed gratitude to the GOC for his swift intervention in addressing the recent emerging issues that could potentially trigger violence in Bokkos.

They called for severe punishment against those involved in unlawful acts, including drug peddlers, whose activities contributed significantly to criminality in the state.
