Following a caucus meeting held in Kaduna yesterday, the coordinator of the group, Hon. Ibrahim Ahmadu, commended the US for its longstanding commitment to democracy, which has been evident through consistent rulings in matters of significant importance to Nigeria’s democracy.
Ahmadu emphasized that the legal pressure placed on the US court was aimed at ensuring that justice prevails based on merit. He further pointed out that the exposure of the Chicago State University documents has dealt a blow to the ruling party.
Ahmadu added, “Our Nigerian legal experts can now take a cue from this and prioritize decisions based on merit, rather than sacrificing justice for technicalities.”
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who served as the PDP’s presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023, election, had approached a US Court on July 11, 2023, seeking more information about Tinubu’s academic records at Chicago State University. The documents requested by Atiku, through his attorney, Angela Liu, included records of Tinubu’s admission, acceptance at the university, dates of attendance, as well as any degrees, awards, and honors he obtained during his time at the American institution.
