The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and its presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have responded to the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, by characterizing him as a liability devoid of the political influence required to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 elections, leadership reports.

NNPP asserted that it is only in Nigeria that morally bankrupt and corrupt individuals like Ganduje are still given any importance.

This stance was articulated in a statement released by the national publicity secretary of NNPP, Hon. Yakubu Shendam, in response to comments attributed to the APC national chairman in a national newspaper (not LEADERSHIP), in which he referred to Kwankwaso as a serial loser.

In retaliation against Ganduje’s remarks, NNPP alleged that the APC chairman is suffering from amnesia, or else he would recognize that he is the one with a history of continuous losses, while Kwankwaso is a serial election victor. Given the scandals surrounding Ganduje, he should not be taken seriously by any rational-minded Nigerians.

Shendam contended that the scandals associated with Ganduje have irreparably damaged his credibility, rendering him incapable of delivering victory for Tinubu and the APC in 2027.

Pointing out that the APC, with Ganduje at the helm, is already a moribund party, the national publicity secretary remarked, “Whether one accepts it or not, Ganduje is a liability to Tinubu, a liability to the APC, and a liability to the nation. I can confidently state that with Ganduje as the national Chairman, President Bola Tinubu is destined to lose the 2027 Presidential election because Nigerians will not vote for him. Tinubu will rue the day he associated closely with a treacherous figure like Ganduje. Senator Kwankwaso appointed him as deputy, MD of Chad Basin and handed power to him in 2015. Yet, he betrayed him. Today, no governor trusts their deputy governors to become governor.”

NNPP emphasized that Ganduje has never won an election throughout his entire political career, except the one that Kwankwaso secured for him as governor in 2015, which was practically handed to him.

“Everyone in Nigeria knows the story behind his claimed victory in 2019. It was another election in which he suffered a humiliating defeat,” added Shendam.

He further noted that there is no escaping the fact that Ganduje’s notorious “dollar stuffing” video was widely circulated during his campaign for the APC gubernatorial candidate in Edo State two years ago while serving as the chairman of the APC election committee. The APC suffered a resounding defeat, and a similar outcome occurred in Osun. Shendam suggested that opposition parties may use the dollar stuffing video in upcoming gubernatorial elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa to their advantage.

NNPP also revealed that Ganduje had to escape the humiliation and embarrassment he faced in these states due to his moral shortcomings.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, disclosed that he has participated in 17 elections and emerged victorious in 14 of them. He also emphasized that over the past three decades, in addition to his electoral successes, he has supported and facilitated victories for the vast majority of candidates he has endorsed, except in the 2019 presidential election.

Shendam raised concerns about what he described as the attempts by the Ganduje-led APC to subvert the will of the people of Kano State. He warned that any endeavor to manipulate the electoral process in Kano, akin to what transpired in 2019, would be met with resistance from the state’s conscientious citizens and impartial judges.
