Mark Zuckerberg, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Meta Platforms Inc., recently underwent surgery to address a torn knee ligament,Daily Trust report.
In a Friday Instagram post, Zuckerberg disclosed that he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear during a mixed martial arts (MMA) training session. The 39-year-old CEO also shared a series of photos depicting his time in a hospital bed.
He wrote in his Instagram post, “Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me. I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that’s delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover. Thanks to everyone for the love and support.”
During the pandemic, Zuckerberg began practicing MMA, and his involvement has evolved beyond a casual hobby, as he even constructed an octagonal fighting ring in his backyard.

In May, he participated in his first Jiu-Jitsu tournament, where he secured gold and silver medals. Zuckerberg shared his tournament experience, stating, “Competed in my first jiu-jitsu tournament and won some medals for the Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu team. Thanks to Dave Camarillo, Khai Wu, and James Terry for training me!”
