John Clarkson, a 42-year-old man from Dumna Zarbu community in Guyuk LGA, has been remanded in prison custody on charges of allegedly killing his uncle, who was accused of practicing witchcraft. The Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola, under the guidance of Magistrate Alheri Ishaku, issued the remand order after Clarkson was brought before the court for the alleged offense,leadership reports.

Magistrate Alheri adjourned the case to January 4, 2024, allowing the prosecuting police officer time to transmit the case diary to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

During the arraignment, the defendant vehemently denied the accusation of murdering his uncle, identified as Mohammed Clarkson, who had been accused of causing harm through witchcraft. According to reports, Mohammed allegedly assaulted the deceased with a stick, leading to his untimely demise, which is in violation of Section 191 of the Adamawa State Penal Code Law.
