Troops from the 93 Battalion, part of the 6th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, have made significant arrests in Taraba State. Firstly, they apprehended a suspected female kidnapper in the act of collecting ransom for an abducted victim. Additionally, they captured a notorious gunrunner involved in supplying arms and ammunition to criminals within Taraba State and beyond.

The female suspect is reported to be married to a notorious criminal who held the position of second-in-command to the late Hana Terwase.

According to Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, spokesperson for the brigade, the troops acted on credible intelligence to arrest the arms dealer, Joshua Dutse Idah, aged 45. Dutse was intercepted in Ibbi town of Ibbi Local Government Area while en route to Kaduna State in a blue Volkswagen Sharon vehicle with registration number Rivers SKN-390AA. Upon interrogation, Dutse confessed to transporting AK-47 rifles to Katsina State for which he had received a partial payment of N300,000. The search of his vehicle yielded one PK machine gun, 399 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, and 3 AK-47 rifle magazines.

The military spokesperson further revealed that a female suspected kidnapper named Janet Igohia, aged 31, was apprehended after collecting a ransom of N1.5 million in Chanchangi area, Takum LGA. Igohia disclosed her association with Voryor Gata, a notorious criminal and former second-in-command to the late Gana Terwase. She is currently married to the leader of a violent extremist group in southern Taraba. Igohia had previously been married to high-profile criminals, including late Terkibi Gemaga, aka Mopol, and late Gana Terwase.

Lieutenant Olubodunde also reported the arrest of two suspected gunrunners in Mararaba Baissa community, Donga LGA, who were allegedly involved in extra-judicial killings and cattle rustling. The suspects, Alhaji Adamu Damisa (aged 40) and Usman Isah (aged 44), were found in possession of N600,000 believed to be proceeds from their illicit activities, along with two Techno mobile phones.
