The Kano State Government, represented by its Acting Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Hon. Hamza Safiyanu Kachako, has issued a stern directive to the management and technical staff of Kano Pillars Football Club, demanding an immediate turnaround in their performance,leadership reports.
This directive follows the team’s recent struggles in the ongoing 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
In a statement released on Friday, Hon. Kachako expressed the government’s concern regarding Kano Pillars’ underwhelming display in recent matches, resulting in a decline in the league standings.

Kano Pillars suffered a significant setback in their latest fixture, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against Bendel Insurance of Benin, adding to their consecutive losses including a 1-2 home defeat to Shooting Stars and a humiliating 5-0 loss to Enyimba International.
Emphasizing the state government’s unwavering support for Kano Pillars under the leadership of Governor Abba Yusuf, Hon. Kachako underscored the need for decisive action to reverse the team’s fortunes.
The Commissioner stressed that the government will not idly watch as the revered Kano team struggles to perform.
He outlined a challenging three-game ultimatum for the management and technical crew of Kano Pillars, beginning with their upcoming match against struggling Gombe United on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano. This will be followed by an away fixture against former champions, Akwa United, and a home encounter against Doma United of Gombe.
Currently positioned in 7th place on the Nigeria Premier Football League table with 41 points from 30 matches, Kano Pillars are urged to secure maximum points in these crucial fixtures to salvage their season.
The ministry has allocated the necessary funds for Kano Pillars FC to complete its remaining matches in the league, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to sports promotion in the region.
