Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Theophilus Y. Danjuma (rtd), asserted that Nigeria’s security woes have tarnished its global standing, branding it a source of ridicule and shame,Daily Trust reports.

Addressing attendees at the annual Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival in Ibbi Local Government Area of Taraba State, General Danjuma stressed the urgency of tackling the nation’s security challenges.

“The Nigerian leadership must promptly address the security crises plaguing our nation to restore its tarnished reputation,” he emphasized.

Expressing concern that the insecurity deterred potential investors and tourists, he emphasized the necessity of ensuring safety for all.

General Danjuma deplored the widespread security issues across Nigeria, underscoring the need for immediate governmental action.

He urged a collective effort to rectify the situation, emphasizing the importance of competent leadership.

“The safety of all Nigerians, including foreigners, must be ensured to attract investors and elevate our nation’s image,” he remarked.

He lamented the risk posed to initiatives like the Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival due to unsafe roads and insecurity.

“The current state of Nigeria is a source of embarrassment globally,” he added, urging a concerted effort to restore its reputation.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, speaking at the event, pledged to enhance cooperation between Adamawa and Taraba State Governments.
