Prince Isah Ado-Bayero, the offspring of Kano Emir, His Royal Highness Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, recently participated in a crossover night church service for the transition into the year 2024 alongside the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewure II,Daily Trust reports.

The monarch marked the Gregorian Calendar year at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral in Benin City, where he had previously observed the traditional Igue festival thanksgiving service on Sunday, December 31, 2023. This event marked a historic occasion as it was the first time an Oba of Benin took part in a church crossover service.

Conducted in the Edo language, the service was introduced by Oba Ewuare II as part of the tradition concluding the annual Igue festival following the Benin Calendar. A statement from the monarch’s Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, highlighted the remarkable presence of Prince Isah Ado-Bayero, a follower of the annual Hijrah Calendar and son of Kano Emir, at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral during the conclusion of the Igue festival.

The worshippers at the Edo national church were astonished by the Muslim guest’s attendance, adding a unique dimension to the end of the Igue festival. The presiding Priest of Holy Aruosa Cathedral, Ohen-Osa Igbinoghodua Edebiri, led a prayer session that ushered the congregation into the new year.
