Despite having affiliation with top political players in  Zamfara State, Jamilu — as simply identified — still suffers a spinal cord injury that afflicted him seven years ago.

As contained in a Twitter post, Jamilu needs N1.5 million to undergo surgical treatment. But efforts to raise funds proved abortive even from his associates in Zamfara political cycle, WikkiTimes reports.

“He requested several times from the State Govt through his uncle, former Attorney General of the state but it was neglected,” the tweet read. “He said the current deputy speaker of the state used to stay in his room and spend the weekend if he came to Gusau before he became the deputy speaker, but he couldn’t help him source the money.”

Jamilu’s ordeals went viral after he was hosted on  Brekete Family,  a reality show by Ahmed Isah, popularly known as Ordinary President in Abuja.

Jamilu revealed further that his wife out of sympathy, married him mainly to take care of him. However, his medical bills were offset during the live show. He would break into tears, phoning his mother to thank the show’s host.

Brekete Family is a reality radio and television program focused on human rights. It airs on radio and cable television and streams online through social media platforms and Human Rights Radio 101.1 in Abuja, Nigeria.
