President Bola Tinubu has expressed sorrow regarding the tragic explosion in Ibadan on Tuesday night, the capital of Oyo State. He has called for those responsible to face punishment for the incident, which resulted in the death of two individuals and left approximately 80 others injured. The explosion caused extensive damage to buildings, vehicles, and other properties in the Bodija area of the city.

In response to the situation, President Tinubu conveyed concern about attributing the blast to illegal mining activities. He emphasized the need to identify and punish those accountable for the irresponsible behavior that led to such a regrettable incident, as stated in a Wednesday statement by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

The President extended condolences to the government and residents of Oyo State, urging relevant government agencies to promptly investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Additionally, President Tinubu directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate with the Oyo State Government in providing immediate and comprehensive relief to the victims.
