Gunmen believed to be robbers have carried out a deadly raid on a supermarket in Karu, the headquarters of Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, resulting in the tragic death of at least four individuals,Daily Trust reports.

According to information gathered by Daily Trust, the robbers targeted the supermarket around 8:45 pm on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants entered the area and fired shots into the air, resulting in the deaths of three customers, including a woman.

Expressing concern over the escalating attacks and kidnappings in the region, some residents called on security forces to intensify their efforts and address the prevailing security challenges in the state. Additionally, they appealed to the state government to enhance security measures to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ranham Nansel, informed journalists that the hoodlums had killed four individuals during the raid. He stated that the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State, Mr. Umar Shehu Nadada, had directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. The outcomes of the investigation would be disclosed to the public once completed.
