Abubakar Bello Furfuri, former accountant general of Zamfara State, revealed that he parted with a huge amount of money before bandits could set free his five daughters.

The girls spent five months in the kidnappers’ den before regaining freedom.

Earlier the bandits threatened to recruit them into their heinous activities should their parents fail to meet certain agreements.

In a video released by the terrorists a few weeks ago, sophisticated weapons were hung on their necks as they wept and pleaded with their parents to abide by the terrorists’ bidding.

The girls were kidnapped on June 5 when the bandits invaded Furfuri town of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

They were kidnapped alongside other persons.

According to Abdul Balarabe, a journalist based in Zamfara, the girls regained freedom on November 8, 2022.

“I thank Allah for the release of my children. I’m grateful to Allah who saved their lives,” the ex-accountant general said.

“I paid a huge amount of money before they (bandits) released them.”

He noted that all the five children were in good condition of health.

Furfuri also called on the government and other concerned authorities to renew efforts to protect citizens of the state.

It was gathered that Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle, who welcomed the girls at the government house in Gusau rejoiced with the family, congratulated the children and the family for the reunion.
