The Bauchi State Government has commenced the construction of the multi-million naira Azare Ultra-Modern Market with 648 shops including stalls, warehouses, a poultry section and cold rooms as well as a fire service and security outpost, among others.

Speaking while inspecting the work on Monday, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Investment, Mohammed Kabir explained that the Azare Ultra-Modern Market is one of the legacies of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration to improve the economic fortune of the state.

He said that the governor has initiated a lot of investment opportunities as part of efforts to provide job opportunities and generate revenue for the state in order to reduce over-dependence on the federation allocation for the execution of programmes and projects.

“As you are aware, recently, His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the commencement of the construction of Azare Ultra-Modern Market and work has commenced. We are here on a progress inspection delivery team of markets and terminals. We are very happy with the progress made so far. We are happy for this project which is part of efforts to fulfil his campaign promises of revitalizing and diversifying the economy of the State,” he said.

The special adviser who applauded the contractors handling the project for commitment to their assigned responsibilities called on the business community in Azare town to support the project for successful completion as it will contribute to the economic advancement of the area and the state in general.

He further assured local and international investors of the determination of the state government to sustain its partnership and collaboration with them for more economic revitalization programmes in its effort to diversify the economy of the state.
