The parents of the 285 students abducted by bandits from the LEA Primary and Junior Secondary School in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have made a desperate plea for assistance,Daily Trust reports.
In separate interviews with Daily Trust over the weekend, the distressed parents appealed to both the federal and Kaduna State governments to aid in securing the release of their children.
Fati Kuriga, the mother of one of the abducted students named Suleiman, implored Governor Uba Sani to use all available resources to expedite the safe return of her son and the other captives. She recounted the harrowing events of the abduction, emphasizing the dire conditions their children are likely facing in the bush without food, water, or adequate protection.

Khadijah Abdulrauf, another mother whose daughter Safiya Hassan was among the kidnapped students, echoed the urgent need for government intervention to rescue their children from captivity. She described the chaos and helplessness experienced during the abduction, highlighting the prevalent security challenges faced by their community.
Shehu Usman Lawal, the father of 10-year-old Aminu, shared the anguish and sleepless nights endured since his son’s abduction. He pleaded for government assistance, expressing concern for the well-being of the young victims.
Abdullahi Usman, the brother of Aminu Lawal who narrowly escaped abduction, recounted the terrifying ordeal of the attack, while Khalid Ahmad and Mustapha Abubakar, other survivors, detailed their experiences of fleeing from the bandits.
Contrary to reports suggesting that 28 students had escaped, residents of Kuriga disputed this claim, asserting that only one student had managed to return home. They emphasized the lack of communication from the abductors and urged the government to prioritize the safe return of all the students.
Governor Sani and the federal government had earlier assured the community of their commitment to rescuing the abducted students and holding the perpetrators accountable.
The community leaders reiterated their plea for government assistance and expressed their hope for the safe return of all the abducted students. They urged authorities to intensify efforts to secure the release of the captives and bring the perpetrators to justice.
