Lucky Imansuen, a former deputy governor of Edo State and a gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has opted to withdraw from the governorship race mere hours before his party’s slated primary election on Saturday,leadership reports.
Imansuen cited his decision to step down as aligned with the APC National Working Committee’s directive to zone the governorship seat to Edo Central Senatorial District. This announcement came shortly after two other aspirants, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Ernest Umakhine, also declared their withdrawal from the race earlier in the day.
In a personally signed statement released on Friday night, Imansuen expressed his decision with a heavy heart, emphasizing the importance of peace and unity within the party. He conveyed gratitude to his supporters for their steadfastness and belief in his candidacy, acknowledging their crucial role in his campaign.

Although his withdrawal was a difficult choice, Imansuen affirmed his commitment to supporting the eventual APC candidate emerging from the primary election.
