The lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Martins Amaewhule, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), have categorically ruled out the possibility of returning to their former party, leadership reports.
These legislators, known for their allegiance to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, took a significant step by withdrawing the impeachment notice served on Governor Siminalayi Fubara during a peace meeting facilitated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the ongoing conflict between Wike and Fubara.
Speaking to the press in Port Harcourt, Hon. Enemi Alabo George, the representative of Asari-Toru Constituency 2 in the House of Assembly, affirmed that the pro-Wike lawmakers have decisively moved to the APC and will not revert to the PDP.

George explained that their move to the APC is a commitment to collaborate with President Tinubu in fulfilling the expectations of Nigerians. He emphasized their dedication to supporting the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ and working closely with the President to ensure the realization of national aspirations.
He stated, “We have crossed that rubicon. We moved to the APC. I told you the other day that we cannot continue because of the division in our party. We voted for the President and if the President is worthy of our votes, then, he should be worthy of our support. We have moved over to support the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda.’ We will work hand in gloves with him to make sure that the expectation of Nigerians is fulfilled. So, we moved to the APC and we are working with the President. We have crossed the rubicon, and there is no going back for us.”
