Bandits in large numbers on Monday night attacked Abdulsalam Abubakar General Hospital in Gulu, an outskirt community in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, killing one and abducting many including hospital staff and patients, WikkiTimes can report.
According to national chairman of Azza Development Association, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdullahi, the assailants invaded the hospital and gunned down Alhaji Tachi and one other before making away with an unspecified number of persons.
The area has been targeted occasionally by the terrorists who hide in adjoining forests in Lapai. Abdullahi states that the concerned authorities turned deaf ears to their call for action.
“Government is not on our side and we are tired of this problem,” he said. “I have followed district heads and well-meaning individuals in the area to render their assistance but no response.”
Two weeks ago, the terrorists sacked some communities in the local council after sending a signal through the local vigilantes. One suspect was arrested in connection to the invasion. But he was later set free.
