The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has stated that the party will apply its winning strategy from the Edo State governorship election to secure victory in the upcoming November 16 election in Ondo State,Daily Trust reports.

Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, also mentioned that the APC plans to use the same approach to win in Anambra, currently governed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as well as other states in the South East in future elections.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday while celebrating the victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo with members of the Edo State election situation room, Ganduje emphasized that a major party like the APC should have a stronger presence in the South East and called on party leaders to work diligently to achieve this goal.

“We have started working on strategies to win these states. Anambra will be next. Let me remind you, we have a project called the ‘political demarginalisation of the South East geo-political zone.’ This is a task that must be accomplished. We will focus on the South East, which has five states. We already have two, but two is too small for a party like ours. We will work hard to bring more states under our control,” Ganduje said.

North Central Elders Predict 2027 Will Be an Easy Win for APC

Meanwhile, some APC elders from the North Central, led by former Senate President Ameh Ebute, expressed confidence that the 2027 general election would be an easy victory for the party.

During a visit to the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Monday, they congratulated Ganduje on his recent legal victory, where a High Court dismissed a suit seeking his removal as chairman.

Daily Trust reports that the suit was filed by the North Central APC Forum, which argued that Ganduje’s chairmanship violated the party’s constitution and the consensus from the 2022 National Convention, which stated that the APC’s national chairman from 2022 to 2026 should be from the North Central geopolitical zone.

Ebute praised Ganduje, saying, “We wanted to be the first to congratulate you on winning Edo for the party, adding it to the APC’s list of controlled states. We have full confidence in your leadership and believe you will take the party to new heights. With these achievements, we are confident that 2027 will be a walkover.”

Former presidential aspirant Cesnabmilhilo Oken’oval, who was part of the delegation, echoed these sentiments, stating, “We are very pleased with your leadership and will continue to support you. The 2027 election will be a clear and decisive victory.”

Reflecting on his legal victory at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Ganduje said, “The claim was baseless, and the court treated it as such. We are not intimidated by such unfounded lawsuits.”

Commenting on the recent Edo election, Ganduje added, “Saturday’s election shows that our efforts are paying off. Fighting against an incumbent government is never easy, but we are making progress.”
