President Bola Tinubu is leading a delegation of high-ranking political officials, security chiefs, family members, and friends to bid farewell to the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the 23rd Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who passed away last Tuesday,leadership reports.
The burial rites are being held on Friday afternoon at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, following a funeral service earlier in the day at the National Christian Centre. The service was attended by First Lady Remi Tinubu and other dignitaries.
Joining President Tinubu, who serves as the special guest of honor at the solemn occasion, are Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, several ministers, and governors, including Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and governor of Kwara State. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, led a contingent of military and security leaders. Traditional rulers, members of the diplomatic corps, and other prominent figures were also in attendance.

In their remarks, President Tinubu and CDS Musa paid tribute to the late General Lagbaja, describing him as a “soldier’s soldier” and commending his dedication and service to the nation.
