At the start of its plenary session on Thursday, the Senate replaced its Chief Whip, Senator Tahir Monguno (APC, Borno North), with Senator Kaka Shehu (Borno Central) as the North East representative on a committee scheduled to meet with the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) later that day,Daily Trust reports.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Senate had established a 10-member committee led by the Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro (PDP, Benue South), to engage with the AGF and address contentious issues in the tax reform bills, which have faced significant opposition.

On Thursday, however, the Senate decided that only the committee members should attend the meeting, excluding principal officers of the red chamber. During the plenary, Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central) explained that Senator Moro was appointed as the committee chairman to “ensure transparency.”
