The Yobe State High Court, located in Potiskum Local Government Area, is on the verge of delivering its verdict in the case involving two soldiers who stand accused of killing Sheikh Goni Aisami. This decision comes after the completion of all hearings related to the murder case,Daily Trust reports.

The trial, which has pitted the Yobe State government against the two suspects, Corporal John Gabriel and Adamu Gideon, has witnessed the presentation of various witnesses and evidence since its commencement.

It was revealed that Corporal John Gabriel used his AK-47 rifle to kill the late Imam Goni Aisami on August 19th, 2022, along Gashua Road. Following the murder, he enlisted the assistance of his friend, Adamu Gabriel, to tow the Honda Accord Car belonging to the late Goni Aisami, claiming it was malfunctioning.

Both legal representatives, Barrister A.S. Mohammed for the State government and Barrister D.M. Department for the defendant, presented their final arguments in court yesterday.

During the proceedings, Corporal John Gabriel was asked by the Judge if he had any objections, to which he confessed and expressed remorse for his role in the attack and murder of the esteemed Islamic cleric.

Following a thorough review of all the evidence and arguments put forth by the parties involved, Presiding Judge Justice Usman Zanna Mohammed adjourned the session in preparation for the delivery of the final judgment. The specific date for the judgment will be communicated to both parties.
