Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong and his family recently hosted a thanksgiving gathering in Calabar, Cross River State, welcoming dignitaries from various parts of the country. The heartfelt event, held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, was a sincere expression of gratitude to the Almighty for the numerous blessings bestowed upon the Senator and his family,leadership reports.
These blessings included significant milestones such as the birth of his son, Anam Ekpenyong, his successful victory in the February 25 Senatorial election, subsequent inauguration as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and his appointment as chairman of the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The Canaan City of Calabar played host to a diverse array of dignitaries who came to support the Senator and his family. Notable attendees included Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Governor of Cross River State Senator Bassey Otu, Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, Ministers Dr. Betta Edu and Senator John Owan Enoh, as well as former Governor Donald Duke and his wife Onari Duke.

Other distinguished guests included traditional rulers, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, APC State Chairman Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba, NDDC Chairman Mr. Chiedu Ebie, NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, SMEDAN DG Mr. Charles Odii, present and former Commissioners in the Cross River State Executive Council, current and former members of the Cross River House of Assembly, and captains of industry.
The thanksgiving and infant baptism service took place at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Duke Town Cathedral, officiated by His Eminence Ekpenyong N. Akpanika, Prelate and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria. The reception followed at the Calabar International Convention Center.
Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the governor of Cross River State, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the dignitaries’ presence and thanked them for their commitment to the nation’s growth. He outlined his vision for national unity and progress, emphasizing the importance of collaboration across regional lines.
Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio delivered a stirring set of remarks expressing gratitude to God for blessings and calling for national unity. He acknowledged Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong’s achievements and pledged support for his continued service to the people.
Senator Ekpenyong extended deep appreciation to all attendees, giving special recognition to his wife, Netanela, and his family, including his parents, HRH Etinyin and Dr Mrs Asuquo Ekpenyong. He acknowledged constituents, friends, well-wishers, and all who contributed to the event’s success.
