Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has urged Daniel Bwala, the newly appointed Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to seek forgiveness from Vice President Kashim Shettima. Bwala had previously left the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to Shettima’s selection as Tinubu’s running mate, citing religious concerns,Daily Trust reports.
In a statement on Saturday, Ndume also encouraged Bwala to collaborate closely with Shettima to advance the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the Tinubu administration. President Tinubu had announced Bwala’s appointment on Thursday, alongside the appointments of three others as directors-general of various agencies. Bwala previously served as the spokesperson for the presidential campaign of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“Work closely with him (Shettima) as your second principal to promote the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of Mr. President,” Ndume advised. He added, “Learn from individuals like Sunday Dare and Ononuga, who are longstanding and loyal associates of Tinubu, always defending his policies without resorting to abuse or offensiveness. Also, take inspiration from Hadiza Bala and Nuhu Ribadu (NSA), who advocate for Tinubu’s policies with facts and figures. Additionally, connect with the grassroots—charity begins at home.”
Ndume praised President Tinubu for demonstrating exceptional leadership by appointing Bwala, who had once been a spokesperson for a political opponent. According to Ndume, the appointment reflects Tinubu’s magnanimity and open-mindedness, traits that are rare in many leaders today.
“I wish you success in your new assignment,” Ndume concluded.
