All 20 medical students who were rescued after spending nine days in captivity are currently meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, at Force Headquarters in Abuja, according to Daily Trust.
The students, from the Universities of Jos and Maiduguri, were abducted in Benue State while traveling to Enugu for a conference. They were escorted to Force Headquarters by their Vice-Chancellors at around 5:35 PM on Sunday.
Our correspondent, who is present at the ongoing meeting, reports that in addition to the Inspector-General and the Vice-Chancellors, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Benneth Igweh, and his counterpart from Benue State are also in attendance.

The students’ abduction sparked a significant public outcry, prompting the Inspector-General to order the deployment of tactical operatives and resources, including helicopters, drones, and tactical vehicles, to ensure a swift rescue. Additional detectives were also sent to Benue State to assist in the operation.
On Saturday, Force spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the students’ release, stating that no ransom was paid. He emphasized that the students were rescued through tactical and professional measures.
