Police operatives in Bauchi State have killed six suspected armed bandits in the Ningi local government area during an operation, seizing several firearms in the process.leadership reports.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Mohammed, shared this news at a press conference on Friday. He revealed that during the clash, police officers from Ningi Division, working alongside local security personnel, recovered two AK-47 rifles, two AK-49 rifles, a locally made dane gun, and other improvised firearms from the suspects.
CP Mohammed further detailed that additional weapons, including a single-barrel gun, 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and three magazines, were retrieved after the confrontation with the bandits.
In related operations in Alkaleri and Toro local government areas, police recovered more ammunition. Among the discoveries were two AK-47 rifles obtained from a 42-year-old suspect, Abdullahi Ibrahim, who confessed to purchasing the firearms for N250,000 from his uncle, allegedly to protect their cattle.
The commissioner added that 343 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a magazine were also seized from Ibrahim, who will face charges once investigations are concluded.
