Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has assigned a new contractor to handle ‘Lalong Legacy Projects’ to the tune of N26.6bn barely five months to the end of his 8-year office tenure.

The decision of the governor to re-award the contract came after the former contractor handling the projects, Bleneson Services Nigeria Limited failed to deliver the contract as planned.

The projects comprised construction of nine primary schools, six secondary schools and six hospitals spread across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Initially, the contract fee was pegged at N59bn before it was later trimmed to N29bn, according to LEADERSHIP report.

The new contractor, United Integrated Construction Company was given 32 weeks deadline to complete the projects.

However, Bleneson Services Nigeria Limited the company that was first awarded the projects said it is yet to receive a formal communication about the termination of the contract awarded to it, adding that it will challenge such a decision if any.
