Egyptian Olympic wrestler Mohamed ‘Kesho’ Ibrahim has been arrested in Paris on suspicion of sexual assault, leadership reports.
According to a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office, “On August 9 around 5 a.m., a man born in March 1998 in Egypt, who was a wrestler with the Olympic delegation, was arrested outside the Oz Cafe.”
The arrest followed allegations that the wrestler had inappropriately touched another customer at the cafe.
The Egyptian Olympic Committee (EOC) identified the arrested individual as Kesho, who secured a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The EOC also announced that Kesho would be subject to an investigation by its ethics committee and could face a lifetime ban from competition if found guilty.
“If the allegations are confirmed, the wrestler will face permanent suspension and will be prohibited from participating in both domestic and international competitions,” the committee stated.
Kesho had recently been defeated by Azerbaijan’s Hasrat Jafarov in the first round of the men’s 67kg Greco-Roman wrestling on Wednesday.
The EOC noted that Kesho had been granted permission to leave the Egyptian camp to watch the final in his weight category but failed to return and turned off his phone.
