The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and APM Terminals have successfully contained a fire that broke out on a crane at the Lagos Port Complex in Apapa. According to the terminal operator, there were no injuries or fatalities, and operations at the port continued uninterrupted,Daily Trust reports.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to the NPA Management and NPA Fire Service for their quick response in managing the situation. We are pleased to report that all personnel are safe, with no injuries or fatalities,” APM Terminals stated, emphasizing that the safety of employees, partners, and the local community is a top priority. The company credited its strict safety protocols for preventing harm and confirmed that terminal operations remained unaffected. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
“We appreciate the support and understanding of our stakeholders during this time and remain dedicated to upholding the highest safety and operational standards,” the company added.

NPA spokesperson Ikechukwu Onyemekara praised the professionalism of the NPA firefighters, expressing gratitude that no lives were lost.
