Comrade Abu Nmodu, the Niger State Correspondent for LEADERSHIP, has been re-elected unopposed for a second term as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger State Council,leadership reports.
Other officials also returned unopposed include Vice Chairman Uriah Gana, Secretary Mohammed Usman Chiji, Assistant Secretary Abubakar Adamu Kuta, Treasurer Habiba Etsu, Financial Secretary Zakeri Musa Lambata, and Auditor Abdullahi Ndanusa.
The triennial delegate conference had Ambassador Zubair Dada, Chairman of Veteran Journalists Niger State and former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, as the special guest of honor. Ambassador Dada emphasized the importance of integrity in journalism, highlighting that true journalism should serve the community’s interest. He shared that journalism practiced with integrity has allowed some professionals to achieve great success, despite the common belief that journalism has limited long-term value.

Ambassador Dada advised that maintaining integrity is crucial for lasting success in journalism, rather than compromising for immediate financial gain. He praised Abu Nmodu’s leadership for upholding integrity, transparency, and accountability within the union, which contributed to his team’s unopposed re-election. He encouraged the newly elected officials to continue their efforts with even greater vigor.
In addition, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago congratulated Comrade Nmodu and the other re-elected officials on their success. In a statement delivered by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor noted that the re-election reflects the exceptional teamwork and collective vision of the executive members, which has driven the union’s growth and development. He commended the significant progress achieved during Comrade Nmodu’s first term and urged the new executives to build on these accomplishments.
