The former president of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Professor Atuboyedia Obianime, stated that leaders in the Niger Delta region are content with the leadership approach of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Obianime conveyed this information during a press conference in Port Harcourt, where he discussed the outcomes of a recent strategic meeting between Ogbuku and leaders from the Niger Delta,leadership report.
According to Obianime, the feedback received from the NDDC boss, particularly regarding his vision for the region, the ongoing “Operation HOPE,” and the proposed Niger Delta stakeholders conference, indicated a commitment to ensuring a stable region. The former INC president affirmed, “It is evident that the chiefs, elders, and leaders of the region engaged with Dr. Samuel Ogbuku. We addressed the challenges affecting the area, despite substantial financial investments in the Niger Delta Development Commission.”
“In the course of the meeting, leaders shared their perspectives on the region’s underdevelopment. The managing director’s response made it clear that we are entering a new era. He assured us that there is still hope and outlined the benefits of Operation HOPE.

Additionally, he articulated his vision for a Niger Delta Stakeholders Conference—a representative gathering where leaders would assess various aspects of the NDDC’s mission and vision, evaluate its performance, and propose solutions to areas needing improvement.”
“After concluding the meeting, we were convinced that Dr. Ogbuku is the right person for the job. His understanding of the mission and his strategic approach left us satisfied. We believe that with such leadership, well-versed in their mission and strategy, a stable Niger Delta is assured,” he concluded.
