President Tinubu Outlines Ambitious Economic Agenda for 2025
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unveiled an ambitious economic plan aimed at reducing inflation from its current 34.6% to 15% by the end of 2025. This announcement was part of his New Year message to Nigerians, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to stabilizing the economy and improving citizens’ welfare,leadership reports.
“Economic indicators point to a positive and encouraging outlook for our nation,” Tinubu stated, highlighting key achievements such as decreasing fuel prices, consecutive foreign trade surpluses, rising foreign reserves, and a stronger Naira.
However, the president acknowledged persisting challenges, particularly the high cost of food and essential drugs, which burden many households. He pledged intensified efforts to boost food production and local manufacturing of medical supplies in the coming year.

“We are resolute in our ambition to reduce inflation to 15%. With diligent work and God’s help, we will achieve this goal and provide relief to all our people,” Tinubu affirmed.
Expanding Access to Credit
Tinubu announced plans to enhance credit access for individuals and businesses to drive economic growth. A National Credit Guarantee Company, expected to launch by mid-2025, will involve partnerships among government agencies, private entities, and multilateral institutions.
“This initiative will expand credit access, strengthen financial systems, and support underserved groups, including women and youth. It will drive growth, re-industrialization, and better living standards,” he explained.
National Values and Youth Engagement
Emphasizing patriotism and shared values, Tinubu announced the upcoming launch of the National Values Charter and a national orientation campaign to foster trust between the government and citizens.
To amplify youth participation, the president revealed plans for a Youth Conference in early 2025, inviting diverse representatives to discuss nation-building. “This Youth Confab reflects our commitment to inclusiveness and investment in our young people as future leaders,” he said.
Collaboration and Reforms
Tinubu lauded state governors for embracing reforms in agriculture, tax policies, and clean energy adoption. He urged all governors and local council leaders to collaborate with the federal government in harnessing emerging opportunities to drive national progress.
He closed his address with a call for unity: “Your sacrifices have not been in vain. Together, let us stay the course of nation-building. The New Year will bring us closer to the bright future we all desire and the Nigeria of our dreams.”
Atiku Abubakar Urges Nigerians to Hold Leaders Accountable
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and hold their leaders accountable in 2025.
In a personally signed statement, Atiku emphasized that the New Year marks a pivotal moment for citizens to reshape the national dialogue and actively monitor the actions of political leaders.
Reflecting on 2024, he noted that the challenges faced underscored the urgent need for governmental accountability. “The trials of the past year have only fortified our faith,” Atiku said. “This same spirit of unwavering faith will guide us forward.”
Atiku urged Nigerians to resist any attempts by the ruling elite to divide the nation along religious or ethnic lines. “We must unite in the pursuit of good governance and stand resolute against abuses of power,” he declared.
He concluded with a rallying call for collective vigilance, ensuring leaders uphold their responsibilities and deliver on promises for a better Nigeria.
