A newborn with his umbilical cord was found around Federal Polytechnic in Bida, Niger State.
According to Crusader Radio, the baby was found inside a sack in front of a mosque in the city.
It has been gathered that residents discovered the sack in the late hour of Sunday.
However, the owner of the baby is yet to be identified.
“Newly born baby girl found at the front of our mosque close to my house behind Maburr after Poly Junction Bida,” Idrees Danjuma, a Facebook user posted on his timeline.
Efforts to reach Danjuma for further information proved abortive.
As of press time, a direct message sent to him had not been responded to.
Similarly, Wasiu Abiodun, spokesman for Niger State Police Command could not be reached for his comment.
His official line was not reachable and he had not also responded to a text sent to him.
In 2019, a newborn baby was rescued by roadside in Minna by one Hajiya Fatima.
According to eyewitnesses, a woman on motorcycle hurriedly dumped the baby by the road side and took off immediately.
It was learnt that the children who saw the woman informed their parents of the development.
A woman identified as Hajiya Fatima Adamu picked up the baby and took her to the police station from where she was taken to Child’s Right Agency.
The police officer Hassana Usman who took the baby to the Child Rights Agency said the child was not given a post-birth bath before she was dumped.
