Dr Fred Epke Ayokhai, a senior lecturer at the department of History and International Studies, Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, was among those who battered a young lady for “having the phone contact” of his daughter’s boyfriend, WikkiTimes can report.
The university teacher and his daughter Emmanuela Ekpe Ayokhai alongside others stripped the victim after maltreating her in her residence. She would later be driven in the lecturer’s car to a location along Kwandere road, Lafia, according to Rahman Nansel, the spokesman for Nasarawa Police Command. The vehicle, Nansel said, had been recovered by the force’s operatives.
In addition, Nansel disclosed that Ayokhai and his daughter have been apprehended.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that Emmanuela Ekpa Ayokhai and the victim had a misunderstanding over a man named IG,” said Nansel. “The victim accused Emmanuela of snatching her supposed boyfriend and assaulted her.”
In retaliation, Nansel added, Emmanuela mobilised her family, went after the victim and assaulted her as well.
Further, the police spokesman said the Commissioner of Police, Adesina Soyemi has ordered an intensive manhunt for the other fleeing suspects and directed that, those arrested should be charged to court for prosecution upon conclusion of the investigation at the State Criminal Department.
