The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced that Nigeria’s inaugural flight to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj will depart on May 15, 2024. NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, revealed this during his opening remarks at the first National Stakeholder Summit of Nigeria’s Hajj and Umrah Industry held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja,Daily Trust reports.

Arabi stated that approximately 65,500 Nigerian pilgrims are expected to participate in the 2024 Hajj, and they will be airlifted by approved airlines from 10 departure centers across the country. Additionally, he mentioned that for this year’s operations, all Nigerian pilgrims will spend at least four days in Madinah before the commencement of the Hajj rites proper.

Regarding the summit, Arabi emphasized the importance of stakeholders coming together, describing it as a divine responsibility. He highlighted the carefully chosen theme, “Partnership, Collaboration and Teamwork: The tripod of success for 2024 Hajj operations,” stressing the need for dialogue with critical stakeholders to ensure a successful Hajj.

Arabi emphasized the significance of collective effort from all stakeholders to guarantee a memorable Hajj experience for the pilgrims this year.
